Would you like to hear a tale about a wild ride that started with an Active Duty Service Member, a Ford Sales Associate, and Instagram? Trust me, you're going to want to sit down for this. 😂
I was serving in Washington state at the time, while Kait was selling cars in Pennsylvania, or somewhere on the other side of the world. When you're from the West Coast, you honestly don't understand much about what goes on over on the East. Trust me, it's true! Well anyways, everything started with a simple "like" on Instagram, which turned into a comment, which later led to a DM, and well, next thing you know, Kait was on a plane and dinner was shared at a dive bar in Seattle. Ya, it was pretty amazing!
What makes the story crazy though, is that literally 5 days after our first encounter, I was sent to Ranger School! Now for those that are not too familiar with military schools, this course is basically a 2 month school where they take away all your outside communication equipment (cell phones, tablets, computers, etc) and put you in the woods to learn how to survive. As you can probably guess, this creates quite a struggle for building a new relationship, especially for two people who met online. This is where letter writing came into play!
One would say that we were a little crazy and foolish, but after a consistent 62 days of letter writing and one surprise graduation appearance, Kait moved out to Washington to take a chance. Now before she showed up, I was living with that beast of a German Shepherd, Max, that you see in the top image. Once Kait stepped into the house though, Max slowly started to get less one on one time. I mean, he had to of known it was coming! 🤣 Either way, this is what led to Skye's arrival to the house. Max needed a companion!
I won't keep going too deep into our whole life story, but basically we enjoyed the remaining two years in Washington with one trip overseas and a lot of awesome memories created. Sadly, our Pacific Northwest excursion came to an end when I left the military and took a road trip across the United States with Kait and our two psycho, I mean fun loving, pups!
Now for the part most of you have been waiting for, FurPrintz. How did a pet canvas ever come about? Why make custom pet portraits and why are they wearing outfits?? Honestly, it all started with Skye! So many people would think that Max, being the large alpha male that he is, ran things in our house. Sadly, this is far from the truth. Let's just say that Skye may be small, but she has a personality that would take over Amazon if Jeff Bezos ever steps down! Hence our first ever design, the "Professional".
I know what you're thinking, how does one design concept turn into a company full of custom pet portraits? Well, after we created Skye's, we knew that we had to create something for Max as well! This is where our bond came into play. So Max has been with me ever since I got stationed in Washington and honestly, before Kait, he was my biggest supporter. All this led to the creation of the "Veteran". The portrait is basically my way of expressing Max's support for all I did while in the military.
Fast forward a few months down the road, FurPrintz now has eight custom outfit designed pet portraits, a "Simple" design with eight painted colors, and even two different types of phone cases! Believe me though, we don't plan on stopping there. Our goal is to come out with new designs on a regular basis because we know that every pet has a different personality.
